Hike to LAS ANIMAS – February 7, 2025

1. Cost: $100 pesos for a non-refundable payment to reserve your spot. *Tour Guide, Jodi Wolk will e-mail the group with the exact price of the panga, bus fare to/from Boca (10 pesos each way) and any other relevant information you need to know. All proceeds will be donated to the IFC

1. WHO:  All of you who have confirmed.

2. WHAT: We will take a 45 minute bus ride to Boca de Tomatlán where our hike will start.  This hike has two parts.

The first part from Boca de Tomatlán to Colomitos is 45 minutes and is the trickiest part. There are some steep areas at the beginning and at the end (please see photos) and then we’ll arrive at the breathtaking, beautiful beach. Along the way, we’ll have a view of the Bay of Banderas and walk through serene groves of trees.  We’ll stop here for 20 minutes or so to rest and enjoy whatever snacks you bring.

The second part of the hike from Colomitos Beach to Las Animas Beach takes about 1 hour.  The path is mostly flat with some ups and downs, a bit of walking in the sand and incredible views of the Bay.  When we arrive at the Beach, we’ll have lunch at a local restaurant. Then we’ll spend an hour (more or less) on the Beach before taking a panga (small boat) back to Boca de Tomatlán. Finally, we’ll take the bus back to PV.

WHERE: Bus stop at the corner of Basilio Badillo/Constitution Ave (You’ll see the OxxO.)

WHEN:  Friday, Feb 7, at 8am at the bus stop

2. WHAT TO WEAR: Wear a bathing suit under hiking clothes (or you could change in the restaurant’s bathroom) and appropriate walking/hiking shoes that may get wet. NO FLIP FLOPS.

3. WHAT TO BRING: Ideally, you’ll put the following into a light-weight backpack as you’ll want your hands free: water, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, quick dry towel, snacks, money-10 pesos each way for the  bus and money for lunch and clothes to change into at Las Animas (if you’re hiking ones are wet from your bathing suit).
